The Vamp pulled ahead with a cunning strategy: Jeff (the Ump) faces the intense werewolf horror Dog Soldiers (2002) while Tim (the Vamp) takes on Eight Men Out (1988). Will this week prove too intense for the timid sports fan?
Due to illness, we can’t provide our high-quality podcast tonight — Dead On the Bases for 10/12/23 is postponed. We hope to be back on the air and in your ears next Thursday, 10/19/23. Thanks for understanding!
It’s a close game now: Jeff (the Ump) gets The Hidden (1987) while Tim (the Vamp) returns the favor with the Burt and Loni classic Stroker Ace (1983). And we thought last week was all about nightmares!
Jeff’s dreams come true as he finally gets Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), while poor, undeserving Tim (the Vamp) is forced to watch Rudy (1993) like an endless nightmare. Tim reviews Rudy, Jeff reviews Elm Street.
The horror fan and the sports fan return for season seven: the Ump reviews Zombieland (2009) while the Vamp takes on Will Ferrell’s Semi-Pro (2008).
The summer break is over: Dead On the Bases returns September 14 for a seventh season, and Dead On Movie Reviews follows on January 18 — all on Thursdays for Dead On Thursdays.
The final inning of season six: the Ump reviews the iconic killer-doll movie Child’s Play (1988) while the Vamp tackles the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 (2013).
Inning eight brings the giant-gator horror of Alligator (1980) against the sports classic The Karate Kid (1984), with only five points separating the contestants.
Inning seven: the oddball horror of Phantasm (1979) goes toe-to-toe with the Olympic comedy Cool Runnings (1993) as the standings tighten.
Inning six on a Thursday the 13th: the Ump gets horror tips from Charles Bronson in 10 to Midnight (1983) while the Vamp watches the Academy Award darling I, Tonya (2018).
