This year’s Horror Realm held in Pittsburgh was a lot of fun for everyone that came out. With the new larger facility and the lengthy guest lists, lines were shorter and the vendor room was comfortable and less stressful to shop. Finding your favorite horror memorabilia felt more like a relaxing shopping mall than the wall to wall marketplace it had been.
Our team moderated a number of the panels, and I share some of our photo ops here with them. I believe the panel discussions at Horror Realm are among the best in the land and certainly worth the time to view. We have almost a dozen of them on tape and I am starting the lengthy process of reviewing and preparing them for upload to YouTube. We will be releasing them hopefully about one a week, but we will see how the technology gods are feeling with us this time!
This was my first time working with our Film Room, and I’d be lying if I said there were no hiccups, but there were relatively few considering it was my first year. The filmmakers were great to work with and the films were fun to watch. I look forward to seeing what the creative folks behind these films have in store for our future nightmares.
The guests are always so accommodating and friendly at this show. You will likely find them in the lounge after show hours speaking to colleagues and guests about the film industry or the history of horror films. It’s surreal to see a mix of the latest actors meeting legendary directors as you just step on by. A real family vibe at a horror show? Yes. If you don’t believe me, ask the girl scouts that are selling great horror-related arts and crafts before you even enter the vendor room.
There were wonderful comic books, pops, Blu-rays, DVDs, VHS tapes, posters, jewelry, T-Shirts, collectibles, toys…wonderful little podcasters with koozies…so many great items to drool over and enjoy while at the convention.
If you get a chance, come out next year to Pittsburgh’s Horror Realm. You won’t be disappointed. Find out more at their website: https://www.horrorrealmcon.com/
